Web of Spider-Man #6 Solicit Reveals Ben Reilly Story
Holy moley, Reilly fans!
According to the solicit for Web of Spider-Man #6 — the anthology series that featured a Kaine story in its debut issue — the issue will feature an all-new Ben Reilly story set during his “Lost Years.” Not excited yet? It’s written by none other than J.M. DeMatteis, the spectacular spider-scribe behind Spider-Man: The Lost Years, Spider-Man: Redemption, and (of course) great runs on Amazing Spider-Man and Spectacular Spider-Man in the 1990s, who has recently come back into the Spidey fold with stories in earlier issues of Web of Spider-Man and its now-defunct predecessor, Amazing Spider-Man Family.
As site contributor Bertone suggested in a previous episode of our very own Clone Saga Chronicles Podcast, Web of Spider-Man would be the perfect place to run an ongoing Ben Reilly feature. Could this be the first story of that feature? Is the fact that it debuts the month after Spider-Man: Clone Saga (which you should be buying and reading, by the way) ends a coincidence or a key sign? I think it’s safe to say, all Ben Reilly fans should be excited to find out!
Look out for the issue this March at your local comic book shop, or order it through your favorite online order service.

Look! Up in the Sky! It’s a bird…it’s eating brains…it’s THE VULTURE! Then, BEN REILLY! You asked for him, and J.M. DeMatteis and Chad Hardin got ‘im. During his years on the road, Ben finds himself in Oregon…and up against a desperate man. Finally, in THE SPECTACULAR SPIDER-GIRL, a gang war heats up…and May doesn’t know who she can trust when the BLACK TARANTULA strikes!

Can’t wait for this. Will be the second issue I have bought (as I got the first issue for the Kaine story). Also, I have checked out art by Chad Hardin, as I had never heard of him before. He did some work recently on the Anti-Venom mini-series. I like his stuff.

Hmm, I didn’t think of the possibility for the shift is to be after the mini-series. There is still no sign of this feature becoming an ongoing story in the Web title though.
